On 11 July 2016, the amazing violin and piano virtuosos, Crista Guthrie and Trevor Loucks, together known as 92 Keys, released a dynamic new music video on their YouTube channel which is a cover of Radical Face’s “Welcome Home.” Thus far the video has garnered more than 6,000 views. Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho, was used as the location for the filming of the video.

Crista Guthrie is a classically-trained violinist who began playing at the young age of 3 years. At the age of 14, after being afforded the opportunity to perform with some of her music friends in Lyon, France, she decided to pursue a serious music career. She states, “It was here that I was able to see the powerful and positive effect music has on people.” She is currently a student at Brigham Young University – Idaho where she is working towards a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. In her brief career, she has had the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall, as well as with such well-known artists as Cyndi Lauper, William Joseph, and Josh Groban, and she also opened for Carrie Underwood. She also enjoys teaching music both locally and abroad.

Trevor Loucks is a business person at heart, having graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Business Management. He states, “There are two worlds that have always fascinated me and 92 Keys is the result you get when combining them. All that goes on behind the scenes to make a project like 92 Keys possible is equally as interesting to me as the creative side.” He has a passion for sitting at a piano and creating music that no one has ever played before, something that has intrigued him for many years. Although he admits that it can be challenging, the end product is what makes all the hard work worthwhile. He wrote and performed live his first song in 2005. It was a song written for piano and violin, and he has loved that sweet combination ever since. He spent a few years teaching music at the Adventist University of Central Africa in Kigali, Rwanda, and he also worked for five years as a field videographer at the NBC affiliate in Boise, Idaho.

In the description of the video, Trevor explains how they were able to get everything in place to make the filming of the video a success. He states:

It quickly became obvious that the only way we could get the grand piano on top of Shoshone Falls would be by hiring a helicopter to lift it up there. We certainly didn’t have a budget for that! So we went for the next best thing and figured out that we could load the piano up on a pontoon boat and transport it to Pillar Falls which is a few miles downstream from Shoshone Falls. You’ll even see a shot in the video where I’m playing the song while the pontoon boat is driving down the river near Perrine bridge.

That all worked out really nice. And we were still able to get Crista on top of the money shot, carrying a violin is a little easier.

The breath-taking scenery compliments the awesome music perfectly. Anyone who watches this amazing video will get the sense of being atop the falls along with Crista and Trevor.
