Amy Hansen
Amy Hansen, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Pleasant Grove, Utah, is a pianist/composer/arranger at Covenant Communications, Inc., an endearing wife, and a loving mother. She is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, and an alumni of Utah State University in Logan, Utah and Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. Her specialty is arranging, with an emphasis on inspirational instrumental music, specifically piano.
Amy developed a passion for music at the age of 5 when she first started playing the piano. While growing up, she kept practicing, going to lessons, playing in recitals, and participating in competitions. She also composed various pieces of music at an early age. Her mother, Susan, an excellent pianist and teacher, helped guide her in her musical endeavors. Amy studied cello, participated in choirs, and even was a varsity cheerleader at Pleasant Grove High School.
Amy’s main focus through the years continued to be piano. Around the age of 12, she began focusing more on classical piano training, and continued until eventually receiving her music degree.
During the end of her senior year of high school, she was fortunate enough to receive scholarship offers in piano to multiple universities including Utah State University and Brigham Young University. She studied in the piano program for two-and-a-half years at Utah State University before transferring to BYU. While at BYU, she studied with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. She received a Bachelor of Music Degree with an emphasis in Piano Performance in 2008.
A few years after graduating from college, Amy felt inspired to start composing again. She wrote a few songs, and discovered she had a passion for it! She continued writing and composing, and eventually her path led her to submit songs to record labels. She signed with Covenant Communications, Inc. and they have published three albums of Amy’s music – “Fount of Every Blessing,” “Piano Noel Classics” (A Christmas Hymn Album), and “They Call Me Sister: Music for Sister Missionaries.”
Amy has served in the Church as an organist, music chairman, music director, and choir pianist. She currently resides in Utah where she has a private piano studio of 20+ students. She enjoys ‘wearing many hats’ so to speak, as mother, teacher, wife, cook, fitness enthusiast, and is constantly pursuing many other creative outlets!
She hopes to inspire and uplift others with her music, as composing, playing, and hearing the music of others inspires and uplifts her. Amy’s music is available for purchase, and you can contact her with questions, or book her for speaking engagements.
Amy and her husband, Steve, are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters. Amy also likes to share her music videos, pictures, and other insights into her world! A quote found on her “Great quotes” Pinterest board probably states her life’s vision best. The quote by William Shakespeare states, “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” And a quote by Plato adds the exclamation point. The quote states, “I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.”
