One of Jenn Blosil’s final performances on American Idol, and I would say, her best, was a recreation of Frank Sinatra’s “My Funny Valentine.” Jenn sang the duet with one of American Idol’s legends, Constantine Maroulis. Jenn and Constantine had a fun and exciting time putting together and practicing this song to prepare it to perform their duet on nationwide television.
In the video of their performance, Constantine said of Jenn, “Jenn is the kind of person that makes you smile with your heart. I love her quirky energy.” Jenn said of Constantine, “Constantine was known for flirting with the camera, I have never googled how to flirt before. So thankfully he’s here so I can just ask him!”
Their performance was incredible and had the entire crowd cheering and the judges smiling the entire time. Their voices really complimented each other’s perfectly, making the duet both touching and riveting. Jennifer Lopez, one of the judges on the final season of American idol said, “It was the perfect duet, you two just came together. It was like you were in your own little world and we were just witnessing it and I love that.” Keith Urban, who was standing on his feet applauding at the end of the performance said, “Uh, I freakin’ LOVED it! You were strong, in the moment, measured, it was cool, and just fantastic.”
Sadly, this was one of Jenn’s final performances on Idol, as she didn’t make it to the top then. Yet Jenn keeps her positive and quirky energy together, as seen in a periscope she posted of her time on American Idol and feelings of the elimination, as well as what she is planning for her future:
I can finally wear brands! We always have to be camera ready on Idol, so it is nice to finally wear these clothes!” With tears in her eyes Jenn continues, “Thank you for wanting to be a part of my life. The amount of support and love I have received means so much. I just wanna say thank you it has been such a good experience. The top ten people who made it are awesome, I love them they are so amazing. The plans that I have next I am pumped for. I don’t know if you know this but I write and I sing my own songs. So singing others peoples song is like “what am I doing?’ It was so new for me and different. But I feel like it helped me be a better artist and own who I am and own my story and own my style. As I walked out on stage, man I felt so different from everyone else, but I loved myself and what I was wearing and who I am.
Jenn then tells us of her future plans, “My plans are to get on the road and tour and go sing my songs and meet you guys. Guys I just wanna say thank you, thank you so much. Being a part of this experience has changed my life. Thank you for believing in me. Here is for the future!!”
Jenn Blosil has a website, Jennblosilmusic.com. If you visit her website you can get a free song as well as hear some other songs that aren’t available to purchase.
Jenn is a strong woman and has a bright future ahead of her! She says about her religion and LDS faith, “It has played a central role in where I draw strength from, and I feel like it helps me own who I am and write music that comes from an honest place. My faith is something that is really personal to me, and so I feel like the best way of sharing your faith is just by living what you believe. I feel like every interaction with people is a direct expression of faith.”
I think it is amazing that she isn’t shy to share that she is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, and that she doesn’t try to flaunt it, but lives what she believes by being herself, as well as, an example to others.
Although Jenn did not reach the Top 10 on American Idol, it doesn’t mean that her music isn’t amazing and will succeed and progress further. Her passion for music and love for people will continue as she presses forward with optimism and excitement for the future!!
