VivaVoce Cagayan de Oro
The VivaVoce Cagayan de Oro Choir is one of the most eminent choirs in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. The group was founded in 2014 by their Director and Conductor, Ronald Bacan Baa, and his assistant Irish Cindy Joy Acain Echem. The choir has 20 well- balanced singers from among all vocal ranges and performs mostly gospel and pop choral repertoire.
VivaVoce Cagayan de Oro is comprised of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are remarkably devoted to using their voices to fulfill their mission of “Sharing God’s Truth Through Music” with performances geared to spread Latter-day gospel truths through modern, contemporary, and gospel music. LDS Church performances have priority. The members serve as volunteers; thus, they are not paid.
In its own varied concert programs, as well as, guest appearances, the choir has had performances in prestigious concert halls and venues both in Mindanao and Visayas respectively. The talents which make up VivaVoce are highly committed to the idea of making music of the highest standards. Many of the members take vocal lessons which contribute to both personal artistic development and the overall quality of the choir.
The objectives of the choir are as follows:
-
- To train members in music, particularly in choral singing, with emphasis on proper technique, posture, and vocal production.
- To provide members with both local and national, and possibly international exposure.
- To promote both the message of the gospel and Filipino culture through choir performances and other resources such as videos and CDs released by the choir.
- To support charitable events and causes.
It is noted that certain performances by the choir will entail fees for the following reasons:
-
- To raise funds for charities such as relief efforts for the victims of calamities, costumes, choral workshops, and travel expenses in cases of out of town performances.
- To help cover expenses whenever the choir must be trained and travels to participate in competitions to give the members experience and to help the group gain recognition as performing artists.
If the choir generates sufficient funds, part of the money will be used to support members who are still attending school.
