Douglas Huff, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served as a bishop. While preparing for a youth conference, he felt inspired to include music as part of the conference and was blessed to pen the words and come up with the tune for a song, which is his testimony about Joseph Smith. The song is called “The Grove, Liberty Jail, and Carthage.” Julie Turnbow composed the arrangement and Jonathan Turnbow provides the vocals for the beautiful song.
Douglas has also written a beautiful song about Joseph Smith called “Joseph, Did You See” as a desire to teach the young people in his ward about Joseph Smith. He wrote the lyrics and came up with the tune. He then walked across the street to my neighbor, Julie Turnbow. She took the tune and put the notes with it and then transcribed the sheet music. The song continued to evolve into what it is today. The recording features Allie Gardner from BYU women’s group, Noteworthy, and James Stevens formerly of BYU Vocal Point.
