In the seemingly dismal times in which we are living, almost everyone is looking for something that will help put a little spring back into their step. BYU Noteworthy’s newest music video released on Friday, 12 June 2020, aims to do just that.

The music video, which is comprised of the songs “Get Happy” and “Happy Days are Here Again,” was originally scheduled to be released a week earlier on Friday, 5 June 2020. However, due to recent world events, the group thought it best to postpone the release.

In a post on their Facebook page on 1 June 2020, the group stated, “Out of respect for the current situation we have decided not to move forward with the Get Happy release at this time. It would be inappropriate for us to preach happiness during a time of sorrow.” They further stated, “We are united in the goal to mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort. Hopefully delaying our release can demonstrate how much we care and want to be sensitive.”

When Noteworthy announced the new release date for the video, they posted this explanation on their Facebook page on Wednesday, 10 June 2020, “Even though we are posting something so carefree and “happy” this week we are still committed to our group goals. We will be implementing necessary training into our program about racism, sexism, body positivism, and other necessary discussion points at boot-camp this Fall.”

They also noted that they are indeed grateful to have music as part of their college lives but realize that it takes more than just the music to be “great citizens and well-rounded people.”
