Mindy Gledhill was raised in the gold rush town of Eureka, California. Little did her town know, Mindy’s musical talents would be worth more than gold someday. Her talents in song-writing and singing have been earned through a lot of hard work, as well as her natural ability.
As a young girl, Mindy listened to her sisters play classical piano, sang songs in Sunday school, and became a fan of 80s music she heard on the boom box. When only 13 years old, her family moved to Spain. She learned spanish, spanish music, and read Neruda. Mindy also learned that real music requires passion.
After Spain, the family moved to Utah. There, in high school, Mindy turned to song-writing, since she didn’t make it into the chamber choir or the play. She signed up with a vocal coach, and went on to become one of the most recognizable voices and names among LDS music artists.
Mindy majored in media music. She created her first album,The Sum of All Grace, which earned 2 Pearl Awards in 2005. Then, in 2006, she won another for Best Inspirational Song on a compilation album. Although Mindy loves inspirational music, she loves the creativity and freedom she now has as an independent artist. She gained confidence, which shows in her first independent album, Feather in the Wind. Mindy was able to let go and express herself as a songwriter, performer, and vocalist.
Mindy’s new album, “Anchor” is a fun and quirky collection of songs that will leave you floating like a scoop of vanilla cream in a strawberry soda. The album, produced by the acclaimed producer, Stuart Brawley, was released on August 4th, 2010.
