Jonna Christensen

Jonna ChristensenJonna is a fairly recent convert to Mormonism. She grew up in a small town in eastern Finland, participating in dancing, singing, and theater.  She has trophies from ballroom and show-dance competitions from Finnish and World championships, including one for beauty and natural charisma when she became Miss Carelia in the year 2000.

After high school, Jonna moved to Helsinki, where she found more opportunities to participate in dance and theater. She was an ensemble member in “Hair,” “Grease,” and “Hello Dolly!” In 2002 she was chosen to be one of the 4 girls in the first Popstars band in Finland. Not too impressed with the band’s goals, she became a solo artist and was picked up by Sony Music Finland.  By 2006 she had released three albums and hit the top of Finland’s music charts. Jonna’s music was the first of its kind to combine American influenced pop sounds with Finnish lyrics.

Jonna moved to L.A. in 2007 in order to make records in English, began writing her next album, and then returned to Finland. She has invested 7 years, thousands of dollars and countless hours into her album, “Sound Mind,” and is determined to release it this August (2015). Crowdfunding is helping her reach her goal.
