Daniel Beck

Daniel BeckDaniel Beck is a bold and confident performer.  He stands for what is right, whether performing in front of thousands of awe-struck fans, or with close friends.  His testimony of the Savior is what comes before all other aspirations.

Daniel is a vocal genius, and has added a fresh and current vibe to the music world.  His voice is strong, yet passionate, and has been compared to the sound of Josh Groban.  He watched his older brother, Mattney, perform on the stage in a high school musical, and realized that singing was socially acceptable for a guy!  Dan decided to audition for several musicals himself, and landed a key role (Rolfe) alongside Mattney (Captain Von Trapp).

Dan acted in local plays, but was drawn to the musical opportunities in performances, rather than the acting aspect. He signed up for voice lessons, and was inspired by the world of Broadway music as he sang along to musicals in his car.  He loved to mimic various styles of singing, and learned to increase his vocal range and control.  Two of his favorite cassettes to listen to in his 1982 Mazda 626 were “Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables”.

Daniel Beck served an LDS mission in North Carolina, then met Amy, his wife.  He continued to perform, while working and going to school, in “Oklahoma”, “1776”, “Carousel”, “Annie”, and “The Scarlet Pimpernel”. Dan’s talents attracted the attention of the producers of the “Liken the Scriptures” series, LDS DVD’s for children from Lightstone Studios. Dan played King Lamoni in “Ammon and Lamoni”, King Saul in “David and Goliath”, the Angel Gabriel in “The First Christmas”, and Rex, king of the lions, in “Daniel and the Lions”. He was the associate director “Esther and the King”.

Dan met LDS composer, producer and performer, Kenneth Cope while performing in “The Scarlet Pimpernel”.  They immediately became fast friends. Dan has recorded with Kenneth, including his portrayal of John the Beloved in Cole’s “Son of Man” project.  Dan recorded a couple of songs for the Especially for Youth 2007 album, “Power in Purity.”

Daniel Beck is an awesome singer. He has quite the versatility. I originally thought him a second tenor, but he has an incredible high range as well. He has also performed in the Lamb of God music presentation by Rob Gardner.
