The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

Mormon Tabernacle ChoirThe iconic Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square has been called “America’s Choir” by U.S. presidents and citizens alike. With 360 members, all of whom are volunteers, the choir has been singing and inspiring for a century. The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square has performed at World’s Fairs and expositions, at inaugurations of U.S. presidents, in acclaimed concert halls from Australia and Europe to Asia and the Middle East, on television broadcasts, and now on YouTube and Facebook.

Its radio show “Music and the Spoken Word” has produced an inspirational Sunday program for over 70 years, and was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the National Radio Hall of Fame. The first airing was in June 1929, and the show has broadcast uninterrupted ever since.

Many guest artists have joined the Choir on the program and spoken of their experience. Angela Lansbury said that being on stage with the Choir might mirror what the viewers experience: “They kind of get under your skin and you just want to be around them. They exude so much warmth and love and such a wonderful spirit of giving.”
