Addison Kirk
Addison Kirk from Weston, Idaho is a music composer and arranger for film, advertisement, TV, and radio. He is a Casting Assistant at the LDS Motion Picture Studio located in Provo, Utah. Addison is also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Addison Kirk is not your typical run-of-the-mill 21-year-old. He has been actively engaged in the music business for a few years. He attended college at Brigham Young University Hawaii from 2010 to 2013 and earned an Associate Degree in Music Theory and Composition. While there, he also served as an Orchestra Assistant from January 2013 to January 2014. He began studying at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah in 2014 and is working towards earning a Bachelor Degree in Film Composition with an emphasis in the Commercial Music Program.
He enjoys “creating beautiful music that brings peace to mind and inspires the spirit.” Some of the artists who have influenced his music include William Joseph, Jim Brickman, Paul Cardall, David Tolk, and Lacie Kirk. His God-given gifts for creating moving arrangements range from deeply inspiring, to remarkably calm and serene. He has stated, “I love music. I enjoy composing original music and creating new piano arrangements of standards including hymns.” Many listeners immensely enjoy listening to his album “Til We Meet Again: in Honor of Gordon B. Hinckley.” Samples of his arrangements can be heard on his ReverbNation page and his Sound Cloud page.
Addison states, “So, there is no point in making music and not sharing it.” His performances may seem effortless. However, much patience, time, and hours of practice go into creating each flawless performance. He recalls, “I remember waking up at five each morning as a 4th grader to practice before school. As I look back, all of those early morning hours spent practicing have been so worthwhile.” Addison is also a member of the band called CityInTheSound. The group was founded in December 2012 and is comprised of Lacie Kirk, Addison Kirk, and Alexander Kirk.
Addison loves the Savior, and his music is an expression of gratitude for all of the blessings that he has in his life. Two of his favorite quotes are: “Live your life in such a way that those who know you, but don’t know Him, will want to know Him because they know you,” and “You will never influence the world by trying to be like it.” Addison further states, “I hope that through my music, you can feel the peace that comes through our Savior Jesus Christ.”
