Annie Cowden
Annie Cowden is a music video creator, singer, actor, and dancer. She is from Holladay, Utah and was born on 15 October 1995. As stated on her Facebook “About” page, Annie believes, “You literally have one life to live. You don’t get to do it ANOTHER time where you get to do it your way, you have to do it your way now.” Her favorite quote is “Cast not away therefore your confidence” which is also the title of a Brigham Young University (BYU) devotional address given by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on 2 March 1999. A cursory perusal of one of her Pinterest boards reveals that another quote that she likes by Elder Holland is, “Fatigue is the common enemy of us all – so slow down, rest up, replenish, and refill.”
Annie is no stranger to performing music. She has been singing since she was a little girl, and has always made music and performing a part of her life. She fell in love with music theatre at an early age, and has been passionately engaged in it ever since. While growing up, she participated in a lot of theatrical productions in both school and the local community. She does not think there is anything more exciting then singing and dancing at the same time, and key changes.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as a young woman, she grew to love the inspirational music by LDS artists that she heard on Young Women and Especially for Youth (EFY) CDs. It was the goodness and inspiration that she felt from listening to that music which inspired her to one-day write her own music that could in turn inspire other people and make a difference in their lives.
At the conclusion of the 185th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which was held in October 2015, she felt impressed to give her hand at writing Church music. Referring to her notes taken from the General Conference talks, she wrote her first gospel related song called Perfectly Possible. The video for the song was published on her YouTube channel on 15 December 2015, and to date has been viewed over 700 times. In the description for the video Annie wrote, “In the October 2015 LDS General Conference, I felt inspired to give a shot at writing church music, and then in the final session of Conference during Allen D. Haynie’s talk, it was so very evident to me that I was to write a song called “Perfectly Possible.”” The song was arranged by Brian Russell Carey, and the video was filmed by Almam Akempta.
Annie is a graduate of Cottonwood High School which is located in Murray, Utah, and she studied at Utah Valley University (UVU) which is located in Orem, Utah. She currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loves writing music and she is very excited to see where songwriting and music will take her!
