Lindsey Rietzsch
Lindsey K. Rietzsch (pronounced “reach”) is a singer and a songwriter who was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. She has had the gift of writing since early childhood. Her love for writing poetry and song lyrics has afforded her many incredible opportunities in her life which have opened doors that have allowed her to become a published author, inventor, songwriter, and renowned motivational speaker.
Since the young age of three, Lindsey has been a writer, creator, inventor, and entrepreneur. Her love for music began early in life which she credits to her Dad who loved to sing and was the lead vocalist in the Utah-based local bands, Journeyman and Raintree. As she honed her talents for writing poetry and stories, she soon discovered a new gift for writing music.
In the early 2000’s, Lindsey found that she had a unique gift which she refers to as her “music writing switch.” When she turned it on, music and lyrics naturally flowed, and she could write an entire song in an hour or less. She did this for fun and began collaborating with other artists. Her music genres included R&B, Alternative, Country, and Pop.
During this time, she met Al Van der Beek, producer, and a member of the music group The Piano Guys. She wrote and recorded a hip-hop and R&B track. Both tracks were produced by Al Van der Beek and earned runner-up in a nationwide VH1 music contest. Though Lindsey enjoyed writing music and had a natural gift for it, she doubted her ability and felt that her limited background in music prevented her from pursuing music as a passion.
In 2003 after graduating from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies with an emphasis in Family Studies, Social Work, and Communication, Lindsey developed a passion for Relationship and Life Coaching. In 2008, she published her first book, How to Date Your Spouse which was released by Deseret Bookstore as well as other major bookstores nationwide. Her book tour landed her onto the national TV circuit, and she traveled from New York to Los Angeles promoting her fun and uplifting message about marriage and family. During this time, she also landed a partnership deal with Investor Kevin Harrington (from the popular NBC TV show, Shark Tank – Season One) for her invention, Hydroheel®.
It wasn’t until 2012 that things took a turn for her musically. She had been invited by R Legacy Entertainment to be a guest speaker at their Arizona women’s conference. She spent the meeting backstage with LDS artists/bands such as Michael Mclean, Katherine Nelson, Due West, the National Tribute Band, and William Joseph. Being the only guest invited that was not a musical act, she felt out of place. However, on the way home from that conference something powerful happened. She recalls:
Suddenly this song just came into my head. It was so beautiful, and I knew all the words and just started singing it. I figured it was a song I must have heard before. As I continued to sing it from beginning to end, it was then I realized that this song was being sent from up above – a gift from God that I needed to share with whoever needed to hear it – a message about faith, hope, and trust in the Lord.
Lindsey K. Rietzsch released her first single “Faith is” on 28 September 2012 and in 2016 she released her first album “Outside the Box.” Her story has been an inspiration to many others as she has encouraged songwriters in her same shoes to cast aside their doubts and fears and embrace their musical gifts. She is currently writing lyrics for and collaborating with other LDS indie artists.
Lindsey resides in Layton, Utah with her husband and four children.
