Katie Thompson

Katie ThompsonKatie Thompson has performed and written music for years.  She sings with soul, grace, and power.  Although her powerful voice has been compared to the strength of Aretha Franklin, Katie brings a current and unique style to the blues/R&B/soul music world.  Plus, her favorite music is anything motown.  Katie was raised in Provo, Utah, but now lives in New York.  She attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California, where she studied acting and wrote music.  Katie spent a lot of time working as a singer in the studio.

Katie played Connie Lou in Michael McLean’s The Forgotten Carols, immediately drawing adoring fans. She went on to play Sariah in “The Ark”, The Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, Femal Singer in “Stand Up Shakespears”, and ’36’ in the stage reading of “Piece” during the NAMT festival.  While living and working in NYC, she has had the opportunity to perform in “Broadway’s Acoustic Soul”, “Diva’s Live”, and “Monday Night’s New Vioces”, at The Duplex and The Laurie Beechman Theater.

Katie has released 2 albums, “What I’ve Done Right” in 2001 and “KT Live” in 2006.

Katie co-wrote a production entitled “R.R.R.E.D” (The Real Redheaded Revolutionary Evolutionary Defiance), and played Vashti in the musical “Giant”, April 28 – May 31, 2009 in Arlington, VA at the Signature MAX Theater.  To learn more about the musical at playbill.com
