Marj Desius
Marj Desius is a recording artist, songwriter, motivational speaker, and cultural ambassador from the country of Haiti. She has also been featured in Mormon Message videos, and in the LDS Church’s magazine, Liahona, as a model. For the past three years she has served as an interpreter for the Creole broadcast in Haiti during the General Conference sessions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is a strong, positive, motivated woman who has great hope for the future. She has stated on her Linkedin profile, “I am a fighter, a survivor, and a dream seeker. I am really motivated and have a lot of hope for the future. I never give up. When I fall down, I get back up really quickly, to get back at it.”
She grew up in a Baptist church singing gospel songs, and has been a part of some really amazing gospel choirs in Haiti such as Praise and the Salem Gospel Choir. She is a convert to the Mormon faith. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her native country of Haiti on 28 March 2009 after receiving a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Her compassion and love for others pushes her to do good and she constantly seeks to help her family and others in need.
Some of the causes that she cares about include: arts and culture, children, Civil Rights and Social Action, education, environment, Human Rights, and Social Services. She further comments on her Linkedin profile, “My dream is to become an internationally known Haitian entertainer, motivational speaker, and build an Art/Music School for less fortunate talented children in Haiti.”
Marj Desius is the CEO of Music for a Purpose. Her mission is to inspire joy through music. She states, “Music give me life and joy. It inspires me to do good and spread that good and joy all over the world to empower, uplift, and love others.”
She is an independent recording artist and enjoys creating beautiful videos to share on her YouTube channel. In December 2015, she performed with Alex Boyé in his Africanized concert, and she is a backup vocalist on Alex’s latest video release “Under The Sea | The Little Mermaid vs Captain Jack Sparrow.” She is also a member of the Genesis Gospel Choir, and was recently asked to record the chorus for the theme song of the Glen Beck Show which was produced by the Osmond Brothers.
Marj currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband and son whom she adores dearly. She and her husband moved to Utah in July 2012 after the devastating earthquake that occurred in Haiti. She and her husband are working hard pursuing their careers, and making their hopes and aspirations a reality. Marj is currently attending LDS Business College (LDSBC) where she is working towards an Associate Degree in Social Media Marketing. She is also making online music.
Marj enjoys making new friends and having fun. Her passion is inspiring others to live life to the fullest. She states, ” Love shouldn’t have any limit. It is not our job to judge. No one can out smart God. He is the only judge, and He still do it with compassion.” She is currently working on her debut album which will be available by the end of 2016.
