Stephanie Boyd

Stephanie BoydStephanie Boyd who hails from Fairport, New York, is an American Independent Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter who loves to write music from the soul. As a teenager in New York, she learned piano and vocal technique and later continued her music education at Brigham Young University (BYU). She also studied biology at BYU and earned a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho.

Growing up in New York, Stephanie was drawn to the power of music from a young age and has been singing ever since she thought she was Ariel in the Little Mermaid. Although she was initially trained in classical singing, she has always favored more upbeat and modern music. She collaborated with novelist Tanya Hanamaikai to begin writing songs, and in November 2013 her debut album titled Touching Sky was self-released. The album was produced by Aaron Edson, published by Striped Emerald Music (BMI), and is distributed by Deseret Book. Two tracks from the album, “He Will Provide the Way” and “Storm before the Calm,” were filmed under the direction of Adam Nielson, freelance/owner of Atticus Pixel Labs in Provo, Utah. The song “Storm before the Calm” was inspired by the scripture found in Psalm 107:29 which reads, “He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.”

Stephanie has worked as a studio vocalist, recording for CDs by such well-known artists as Jenny Phillips (Sisters of Light, The Miracle, Journey Toward Zion, Daughter of a King, Remember the Journey, Arise, and Shine Forth, As His Daughter, Sabbath Morning); Michael McLean (Threads, The Forgotten Carols); and Kamie Bolen (Sing Me a Scripture II). She has also worked closely with Tyler Castleton.

She has been a featured soloist in traveling fireside groups and sang the National Anthem for the Idaho Falls Freedom Celebration before an audience of 100,000 people in 2005.  She goes to many areas to sing and speak at firesides. She wrote the theme song for the popular Utah talk show Studio 5, and was also a featured soloist on Sally DeFord’s website in 2008. Stephanie also performs in self-written firesides in Utah. Speaking about her love of music, she wrote the following in the bio section of her Facebook page, “Music and singing is such an integral part of my life. I don’t remember life without it. More recently, I have sung for six years as a soloist in the Jenny Phillips fireside choir, which has 20 female soloists chosen from a group of 140 members.”

Stephanie Boyd is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She currently resides in Lehi, Utah with her husband and their six children.  She likes to read, garden, run and bake fun birthday cakes.
